Close to what is today piazza della Loggia, the San Giuseppe monastery was built by Franciscan friars. In the part of the building surrounding the
cloisters, the Diocesan Museum was established in 1978, The collection includes paintings, sculptures, goldsmith’s art and illuminated manuscripts held for centuries by religious institutions. From Moretto to Titian, from Tiepolo to the Venetian artists of the eighteenth century, art and spirituality come together to give the city their common message of faith through an appreciation of the past.
