EXHIBIT “Il cibo nell’arte. Capolavori dei grandi maestri dal Seicento a Warhol”

The exposition offers to people the possibility of staring the representation of food in different historical periods. The exhibit further analyzes themes of EXPO 2015, whose topic is “Feed the Planet, Energy for Life”. Exposition is promoted by the Association Friends of Palazzo Martinengo, with the sponsorship of the Province of Brescia, Lombardy and EXPO 2015, and it is curated by Davide Dotti, helped by a international scientific committee.

It reveals how painters, between XVII and XIX century, loved painting food and typical dishes of their native countries, and it makes you discover dishes and food now completely disappeared, of which it is difficult to imagine the taste. Also, thanks to collaboration with some of the most well-known departments of Food Science of Italian Universities, you could know precious information about feeding and tasted of those ages.

Ten thematic sections: “Allegory of the five senses”, “Markets, larders and kitchens”, “Fruits”, “Vegetables”, “Fish and shellfish”, “Furred games and game bird”, “Meats, cold cuts and cheese”, “Sweets, wine and spirits”, “Set up tables”, “Food in the art of XX century”.

Opening times:

  • on Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 10-20
  • from Wednesday to Friday: 9-18,
  • on Monday and Tuesday closed.

 

  • Ticket with audioguide included: 10€ full price, 8€ reduced price
  • Reduced price for schools: 5 €

N.B. People who is associated to associations that participate to “Forum del Turismo Sociale”, thanks to an agreement reached with directorate, could visit this interesting exhibit availing of a sale of 2 € on the entrance ticket (you pay reduced price ticket instead full price ticket).
