Apicoltura del Sampì  was born 30 years ago from a “birthday gift”: a family of bees that, at the beginning, scared us, but, after, it has positively influenced our life.

Family-beekeeping, with a hundred of beehives, is situated in Botticino Mattina, mid-hill, in the centre of Valverde, delimited at East from the mountain of Rezzato and at West from mount Maddalena. It produces in Botticino the traditional honey of the hills of  Brescia: Spring Millefiori, Acacia, Chestnut, Summer Millefiori and, rarely, Tarassaco and, when there is transhumance on the mountain near there, High Mountain Millefiori, Rhododendron, Linden, exceptionally, Raspberry; level Melata. Rhododendron and High Mountain Millefiori are Slow Food Safeguard.

We work hard because we want to obtain top quality and genuineness of a product that needs, as prerequisites, the healthiness of the environment and the wellness of bees; other things are committed to ability and accuracy of beekeepers. The places in which we work with our bees are natural oasis far from traffic jam and pollution. In addition to honey, Apicoltura del Sampì produces Propolis, Pollen, Natural Beeswax and Honey vinegar (six different types of acidity and residual honey, not fermented). Everything complies with Slow Food concept that food has to be “GOOD, CLEAN AND PRECISE”.

Apiary is visited by associations, pupils and wine and food brotherhood. It is opened to everyone who wants to know this wonderful world; to create respect for bees and for nature and promote reuse of honey in culinary preparations are pleasant diligence that we take on as beekeeper, sommelier, norcino and lover of eating good things for living a good life.

Raspberry honey

It is a particular honey, very hard to produce. It is produced in the Alps and in northern Apennines. The color is very fair, almost amber-colored. Smell and taste have mid-intensity, are fruity, like fruit jelly or candied baked-apple. It has the tendency to crystallize, with a sweet taste.

Linden Honey

It is produced in the Alps and sometimes in urban and suburban areas. It turns from fair amber-colored to amber-colored. The smell is particular: fresh, mentholated, balsamic, remembering the smell of a linden infusion. The taste is very persistent with the possibility of a persistence of aftertaste, due to the combination flora, common for this kind of honey.
